If your percentage on the testing is not at a passing level by the midterm you will be disqualified from the course. * Maintains good academic standing of an 70% average or better throughout the entirety of the course in order to take the registry exam. Learns to analyze emergencies and quickly determine practical courses of action. * Effectively participates in all practical sessions. Learn and follow all applicable safety procedures. * Learn to identify various hazardous materials. * Learns to read and interprets geographical information systems and street maps and navigate streets. * Reads, understands, and retains the information in technical materials, rules, regulations, and procedures. * Learns to understand and follow departmental policies, rules, and instructions in emergency medical care delivery. Learns how to effectively and safely provide pre-hospital Basic Life Support care in all weather conditions, while maintaining an effective working relationship with other EMS providers as a valued member of the patient care team. Learns how to effectively and safely render care to patients of all ages whom experience any injury or illness, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift, move and transport patients. Learns how to effectively and safely assess the needs of patients using accepted national and state standards for the EMT-B and rapidly setting priorities of care. Performs effectively as a student in an academy style classroom setting that is divided between didactic training and various clinical and prehospital areas. ![]() Position #: 12930 - Interviews will be conducted on site in August/September 2023. ![]()
